D-Chuck for Hard Turning of Gears

SMW Autoblok’s D-Chuck is a high accuracy, quick jaw change diaphragm chuck for hard turning gears. The elastic deformation of the D-Chuck’s diaphragm provides constant, adjustable clamping force with extremely high precision. No sliding parts in the clamping system contributes to greater precision, and also to reduced maintenance and longer chuck life thanks to the absence of friction.
The quick jaw change system utilizes the ABS® Coupling (licensed from Komet), which offers high rigidity and accuracy. Jaws can be changed in less than one minute, facilitating fast changeover between jobs. Matched jaw sets can be used on different D-Chucks with no loss of accuracy.
To compensate for the centrifugal force caused by the jaws during operation, counter balance weights connected to the clamping jaws are mounted underneath the diaphragm.
New TE Six Jaw 2 + 2 + 2 Equalizing Chucks

At IMTS 2010, SMW Autoblok introduced our new TE Six Jaw Chucks with 2 + 2 + 2 equalizing mechanisms. These active pull down chucks feature high precision and repeatability, and are designed to securely clamp parts without deformation.
With six equalizing jaws, TE Chucks clamp workpieces with twelve points of contact. This is ideal for parts that are easily deformed, such as flanges and rings for the aerospace industry, fly-wheels, components for wind power generators (e.g. bearings, slewing rings and planetary gear boxes), brake drums, and brake discs.
With high centrifugal force compensation even at high speed, TE Chucks maintain low static gripping force for minimum workpiece deformation. Despite the intricate mechanism of master jaws and levers, TE Chucks feature a compact body design.
TE Chucks are completely sealed from outside contamination, and therefore require less maintenance than competitive chucks. TE Chucks are available in a range of diameters from 260mm (10.24”) to 1050mm (41.39”).
