New 6 jaws power chucks IEP with 2+2+2 clamping High accuracy machining of thin walled components became an important market. To answer to this specific need, SMW‑AUTOBLOK designed the new 6 jaw Equalizing power chuck type IEP with 2+2+2 clamping. The 2+2+2 Equalizing mechanism of the new IEP chucks allows the clamping of thin walled components guaranteeing to share the total gripping force on 6 points thus reducing the radial distortion. The important advantages of the IEP chucks are: - Manual setting of the Equalization stroke from maximum, for OP10, to the minimum for OP20; - Constant gripping force thanks to the sealed body and constant lubrication; - Centrifugal force compensation for high speeds; -Low maintenance and other advantages of the sealed design (chuck in the Proofline range); The main characteristic of the IEP chucks is the simultaneous self-centering clamping movement the 6 jaws, but equalized in couples, with all clamping directions converging to the center. The IEP chucks are very flexible and can be used for both OP10, using a large equalization stroke, or OP20 with a small equalization needed or no equalization. In OP20, the reduction of the equalization stroke improves the accuracy of the chuck. The IEP chucks are available in the following diameters: 500 – 630 – 800 – 1000 – 1250 – 1600 mm.
